Fiction

The grandeur of Rome has inspired many works of fiction, from novels to movies. This section showcases some of the more famous novels. Currently this section of our site is small, with only one novel included but we will be adding more in the near future. Eventually we will add other famous works of literature set during the Empire such as Ben Hur.

Go to Rienzi, The Last of the Roman Tribunes by Sir Edward Bulwer Lytton - A very Victorian imagining of the Roman Empire and its society. Novels like this one helped shape popular concepts of what life was like in ancient Rome.
